There is one God, who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Every divine action in the world is accomplished by the Father working through the Son and in the power of the Spirit. This God has revealed Himself in creation and in the history of Israel as transmitted in Scripture. (Genesis 1:1; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Ephesians 4:4-6)
Shoresh David understands and embraces the prophetic call for REVIVAL, especially within the Messianic Movement! We are a congregation of Jewish and non-Jewish people who worship Messiah Yeshua and are called to discipleship and outreach, all within a Jewish expression. As a local congregation, we look to minister to the Body of Messiah, preaching through action the Brit HaDashah (New Covenant) to Jews and then Gentiles. We also celebrate Shabbat and the Biblical feasts as a community of believers, open to all who wish to do likewise. Shoresh David recognizes the importance of vision for our congregational community, and strives to clarify that vision corporately, individually… and by extension, outwardly to the community around us, to both Jew and Gentile!
One New Man fueling communal covenant relationship ROOT of David is a Messianic Congregation, embracing a One New Man identity, seeking to provide and foster a lifestyle expression of the Kingdom walk for the people of our faith community. Covenant Relationship is the foundation of all relationship growth in the local community as part of the greater COMMUNITY of believers in Yeshua. Relationship growth for ROOT of David entails greater connection with both the Jewish and Christian community in the Pittsburgh region.
Generation to Generation model of Kingdom expansion ROOT of David believes “l’dor v’dor” (ודור לדור - from generation to generation) is an important aspect of not just continuing a tradition. Generational cooperation is important to the unity of the local body and is integral to effective Kingdom advance. Generational connection means reaching out to not only the generation that has been raised in the Kingdom of Yeshua but to those who are still unreached with the Good News of the Messiah.
Ephesians 4:11-13 -- "He Himself gave some to be emissaries, some as prophets, some as proclaimers of the Good News, and some as shepherds and teachers— to equip the kedoshim for the work of service, for building up the body of Messiah. This will continue until we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of Ben-Elohim—to mature adulthood, to the measure of the stature of Messiah’s fullness."
FIVE-FOLD expression within the Kingdom of Yeshua Shoresh David embraces a Five-Fold expression of ministry calling on our community. While this means that specific giftings may be how you are called to serve within the congregation, we are committed to providing the equipping of everyone’s anointed gifting in order to serve the greater Kingdom of Yeshua.
ROOT of David/Shoresh David looks to reflect the atmosphere of Heavenly worship that was implied by the presence of ADONAI in the First Temple. Now with Yeshua sending the Holy Spirit to guide us and undergirded by prayer, we look to have the presence of the LIVING G-d to be felt at our services, gatherings and outreaches...manifest through the power of the LORD working in each person! 1 Peter 2:5 -- "you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house—a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Messiah Yeshua.
Root of David reclaims a missional understanding to our Messianic Jewish foundation, meaning that Shoresh David looks to promote the Besora (רהָוֹשׂב - ְּGospel, Good News) through outreach and not just attraction. This entails Shoresh holding onto the firmament of orthodoxy for our faith in Yeshua while understanding how to reach a culture that feels far from the Kingdom of G-d.
John 4:21–24 -- "... an hour is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming—it is here now—when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Root of David stands as part of a RESTORATION movement in the BRIDE of Messiah, restoration (Tikkun - תיקון) meaning that we are reclaiming something from the early ROOTs of the church, but are anticipating a greater blessing and anointing. Restoration implies something BETTER!
